2011 Holly Hotel Haunted Event

The 2011 Holly Hotel haunted event was a great experience for many! MPRA hosted two back-to-back events October 22nd from 6pm-11pm! Lots of personal experiences for the guests including touching, feelings of illness in the basement room, EVPs, and more! Two women captured actual spirit apparitions in their photographs and we are hoping they will post their pictures here for the other guests to view! The event was documented by the Oakland Press!

Ann Lannen Kenderski captured an AMAZING image of a shadow apparition (right corner). Image can be seen under the photo gallery with more details and a before/after image.

Below are the EVP's from the evening and our interview: (WEAR HEADPHONES - last 3 EVP's are "class A" and are the best!)

Oakland Press Interview Clip:

Holly Hotel Ghost Hunting Events

Hello everyone!

Sunday, Oct. 24th we hosted two events of ghost hunting at the historic Holly Hotel; with amazing results! Nearly every group had personal experiences and we're very excited with the evidence! As midterms are winding down we're currently reviewing and analyzing the evidence captured that evening. I'm hoping several of the guests will submit their pictures from the evening as many captured spectacular orbs and actual human apparitions!!! From one woman having her hair flipped, another had her jacket pulled up, seeing a man's face in the women's bathroom upstairs, to our investigator Zach downstairs being spoken to and finding a scratch on his neck...it seemed to be quite active that evening! We have the spirits to thank and Chrissy herself for having such a wonderful event!

We'll be posting our evidence here on the blog page along with e-mail out evidence to those that left their contact information! Can't wait to share the evidence with all of you! Hope all is well and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Scratches were found following the evening's investigations on one of the investigator's neck.

Travel Channel Episode 2010

Hi Everyone!

Its been quite awhile since we've posted on our blog; a lot of activities and exciting events have been going on!

We are happy to announce that the Travel Channel's television series "Most Terrifying Places in America" will be airing an episode hosted by MPRA. :) The exact date is still to be discovered but we're told to expect the episode to air in early October of this year!

We were honored to film with Sharp Entertainment. The episode will be featuring the lovely and mysterious Holly Hotel in Holly, Michigan. One of our favorite places due to the amazing staff and hospitable ghosts as well! We were contacted by the owner of the hotel and asked to help host the episode due to their busy schedules and our experiences previously at the Holly. Everything went great and I was very happy several of the MPRA members were able to attend the filming. I was happy to help with the make-up for "Nora Kane" and all the actors did a great job. The show re-creates legends and stories of spirits. The Holly Hotel is not a "terrifying" place but a great location for many ghost stories and 'spooky' happenings. I'm sure it will be edited and presented as terrifying but I welcome anyone to visit the Holly and find themselves quite amused and enchanted! I'll be sure to update you on all the exact date for airing but hope you'll sit down with a nice bowl of popcorn and enjoy! :) Much love and take care! -Samantha-

Holly Hotel Investigation Spring 2009

So!

After patiently waiting for the outcome with two production companies; I am not deciding its safe to post the evidence from our Holly Hotel investigation in Holly, Mi. Their creative producer (great guy) flew out to film an amazing reel with us (have yet to see it but I hope they'll realize its a big deal and an important event to remember for us). We only had a day and a half to film compared to other groups that got entire weekends +. I'll try and see if I can post the EVPs on here too (REMEMBER: Listen to the evps with headphones on, otherwise your computer won't pick it up). The creative director wasn't a huge believer before but later had his camera kicked on the floor in front of him resulting in his reaction, "what the *uck?". A plate/decorative dish hanging in the parlor amongst numerous items on display disappeared randomly during our investigation. It would require a ladder to reach its location to remove it; none of the employees took it nor saw anyone remove it. The owner/manager was great to work with and was shocked at the plate disappearing as well. There was even a dirt shadow/ring in its place!

Something dark dwells in the basement/cellar area, I'll confirm that! Nausea, headaches, sweating...wasn't good! As soon as you walk into the hotel, you feel a denseness that is felt by everyone! It is considered one of the most haunted locations in our nation! Most of the spirits are docile and kind however the basement and upstairs bathrooms are not a favorite of mine, ha. The Holly Hotel experienced two traumatic fires that both happened decades apart but on the same day...same hour and within the same minutes of the original. I believe the original fire may have had casualities but there are definitely spirits there! We have a EVP of a girl with asthma or adnoids it sounds like; maybe died of smoke inhalation?? "He took my hand" ...."Something something ...in the fire" if what we heard? Let us know what you think! We've got the original owner's dog barking in the background after I mentioned its spirit being known to haunt the hotel. Also the tape recorder was left alone in a small eerie room and there are recordings of it being tampered with and moved...creepy! Overall, it was a great experience and an honor!

"Samantha,

ya where WAS my trailer and make up crew! I wanted sparkling water and fruit prior to filming? :) You have a beautiful and confident personality! I am sure the spirits are drawn to that. We all enjoyed your professional and affable ghost crew! You are welcome back ANYTIME. Good luck with your production! I am anxious to hear and see which ghosts came to talk with you last night. Always, Chrissy"

(Holly Hotel Owner, wonderful woman with a great sense of humor!)

Light anomoly/orb...has an actual flight path (dust does not) and physically went behind the investigator with same relative size (dust only appears large up close to the lense).

EVPs:

Employee took this in the women's bathroom...obviously a hooded figure wasn't a part of the old portrait...reminds me of this kind of a demon...

Similar???

Ghost Hunting Tools & Tech

What do we use during our investigations?

There are several basic instruments that almost every paranormal investigation group use, and the rest may vary from one to the other.

1) EMF Reader (Electromagnetic Field). This device will pick up on energy spikes within the environment upon investigating the rooms/place. However, you must be sure not to confuse the power box within the area to be something paranormal. Some can leak high amounts of energy which can even cause hallucinations, etc.

2) Digital Voice Recorder (Used for EVP's). Digital voice recorders can pick up sounds and frequencies that we may find inaudible to our hearing. Many will filter out the "white noise" to find various EVP's (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) within the recording.

3) Dowsing Rods (Copper or other metal versions). Dowsing rods have been around for hundreds of years. Originally used to find water lines beneath the Earth for well digging, they can also detect and indicate energy fields and lines. Some use them for spirit communication.

4) Infrared Camera ("heat vision"). Our human eyes can't see the light spectrum area that includes infrared. These cameras enable others to see heat signatures that may indicate spirit activity (such as heat on a unoccupied chair).

5) Digital Video Camera. Digital video cameras and picture cameras help document and file photographs or footage of possible paranormal events. They can pick up ORB movements or flight paths, apparitions, voices, etc.

6) Digital Laser Thermometer. Laser thermometers can detect and display "cold spots" where possible paranormal occurences are taking place. Quick and easy!

7) "The Ovilus I". We saw this on Paranormal State and of course for my birthday I had to buy it! Has several modes: 1)Dictionary Mode: Generates words from dictionary based on measurements/readings in the atmosphere 2) Phonetics Mode: Generates sounds like Ch, Ba, Ca, S, etc and if you get actual words that's quite something! 3)Combination Mode: the first two combined. 4)EMF Mode 5)Yes or No Mode 6)Dowsing Mode. A really fun investigative tool!

ORBS: What They Are & How to Tell

Many people, skeptics and all, are unsure what an orb is and how it relates to the occult. An orb is usually defined as the result of a spirit attempting to manifest itself. Orbs are energy and emit their own light source-many have a tint of color to them. Some believe the color represents what kind of energy it is also. However, many are dismissed as: dirt, dust, water, or insects. There are many instances where this is true. Here are some simple ways to differentiate between them: Bugs will reflect light in the photograph however they are not cylindrical in shape and don't follow the same size typically. You will see tiny lines sticking out of the object which are wings, legs, etc. Water or any precipitation on the lense will cause the image to blur but won't emit it's own light source. Dirt and dust are the most frequently mistaken sources. They appear to have the same size and shape however there will be no color tint/hue and dirt won't reflect or emit light. I'll post some pictures in order to demonstrate this. I'm also including a photo of smoke and one of "ectoplasm" or "ghost mist" to point out some differences.

(Below the tree limbs there are several small objects which are bugs. Notice the more irregular consistancy and the wings.)

These are real, legit orbs. They both are emitting light and have a bluish hue to them.

These blobs in the image are due to grime and water. Notice they are "smudgy" and have irregular shapes and sizes, do not emit a light source.

This is a photograph as the result of water on the camera lense. The image is blurred and also emits no light.

This is a ghostly mist taken at the Manchester cemetery in Michigan. No one was smoking and notice the tinit/hue of the "mist". Also, smoke has a more uniformed line and pattern...

This is smoke appearing in the photograph due to a cigarette. It has a blueish hue and has a more circular and stringy/stream line pattern.
